Scientific agreement happens in the aggregate. That is, studies are conducted, at increasing scales, the results are analyzed, results and conclusions are published in peer reviewed studies, FDA approval requires multiple phases. In this way, one-off odd results, crack pot theories, paid for and biased analysis, etc., are strained out of the system.
