In which I attempt to understand how a great season of TV is put together
I’ve read 1,000 articles on how to write pilot scripts, taken classes, read books, watched YouTubes. I still don’t feel I have a great grasp on the arc/flow/structure of a season of TV. So this is something of a real-time note-taking session as I rewatch Season 1 of HBO’s Succession, the fabulous show about the Murdoch, I mean Roy family of media moguls.
I started with the Wikipedia page that summarizes the plot of each episode. But reading plot summaries tells you nothing about theme…
